Local horror short accepted to New York festival

FARE, a horror short by filmmaker Andrew Silke, will have its American premiere at the New York City Horror Film Festival in November.

This is Silke’s second acceptance to the festival, though this will be his first time in attendance. Amelia screened there in 2013, as well as at Cannes.

The film was created for the Dead North horror film festival competition run by video production house aRTLeSS Collective every March. At last year’s event, FARE won best film, Silke best director and Rebecca Claire Davis garnered best actor.

“To be able to do something with a zero-dollar budget and show it in a month, that’s pretty awesome,” Silke said of the Dead North competition, adding he plans to enter again.

Set in Old Town, Silke premiered his latest work, Matt & Messy, at the Yellowknife International Film Festival this past weekend.
